It's our monthiversary! Part X

Luki turned ten months old yesterday. As in 1 an 0. You know? Double digits. TWO MONTHS AWAY FROM ONE YEAR OLD!

I know, I can’t believe it either.

(Insert cliched Time Flies, Next Thing I Know My Son Will Be Asking Me If He Can Bring His Girlfriend Home For Thanksgiving comment here.)

Anyway, his ever growing repertoire of skills as a ten month old includes but is not limited to:

1) Drinking water from a sippy cup — he has totally figured out how to hold the cup and bring it to his lips, however, he still thinks it’s way more fun to throw it on the floor after taking a few sips. I can’t say I’ve tested this theory yet, but I bet you he wouldn’t be so quick to discard the cup if we filled it with something more exciting than water. A piña colada, maybe? Perhaps we’ll try it on his first birthday.

2) Speaking of throwing things on the floor, his new favorite game (especially when sitting in a high chair at a restaurant) is something I like to call I Throw It On The Floor And Cry Until Mommy Or Daddy Picks It Up For Me So That I Can Throw It On The Floor Again. It’s just a fascinating pastime that provides everyone in the family with hours of entertainment. After all, we’d much rather spend our time in restaurants picking up baby toys from under the table than doing something trivial and irrelevant such as, oh, I don’t know, EATING.

3) Crawlking. I just made that word up. Luki’s not walking yet, but instead of crawling with both knees on the ground, he now only uses one knee and lunges himself forward by stepping on the floor with his left foot. Crawling + Walking = Crawlking.

4) Trying to take off my shirt whenever he hears the word “teta.” Fortunately, he hasn’t figured out how to unhook my bra…yet.

5) Discovering his index finger. He uses it to point at the light and at the plane and at whatever it is anyone around him is eating, as if to say, “That. That’s what I’ve been wanting my whole life!” And when we let him try it, be it a sip of yerba mate tea, a nibble of blue cheese, a piece of mango, or a squirt of lime, he happily welcomes the new flavor by always asking for more.

If he’s not too busy pointing, he uses the same little finger to answer the inevitable, “How old is Luki going to turn?”

Are those real curls or just from the two curlers you make him wear every night??

  3. Ailen says:

Natural! (with the help of curl enhancing hair gel)
